WELCOME TO THE SHS LIBRARY!!!!
I look forward to seeing each and every one of you in the library this year. Whether you come to get a Chromebook (or get one fixed), have class with Mrs. Cleveland or any visiting classes, to get college or career assistance, to check a book in or out, to study individually or as a group, to participate in a club or meeting, or just to visit Mr. Jones or Mrs. Kochanowski, we want the SHS Library to be a welcoming, comfortable, and helpful space. We plan to regularly update this page with announcements about new books, new college/career information, and what's happening in the library. We will also have a new library database for all of our books and materials, but with that change comes time to learn and set up the new system, so we will let you know when that happens. However, if you need Mrs. K, do not worry, none of this will affect her whatsoever!
- SHS is now officially a part of Sweetwater City Schools, and we are so excited to see what that means for the school, the staff, and the students, but especially for the Library. Along with the change comes new faces, so we will have a spotlight on each of our new staff members beginning August 10th (to give us time to get the news out) both here on this page, and in our SHS News. Keep watching for the first of many!
- We have updated our pages and Links located on the right side.
- Chromebook Checklist & Links - a checklist for steps to get your Chromebook along with links, information on getting a loaner Chromebook if you forget yours, and more...
- SHS Technology - information and links to help with all of your technological needs
- Student Library Resources - links to help resources such as: Reference & Research Materials, the ACT, the Sweetwater Public Library, Test Prep, and certain magazines
- Philosopy & Mission Statement - The ideas an tenets that Mr. Jones follows to make the Library a better place.
- Calendar (maybe) - If I can get it to work properly, I will have a calendar of events happening in the Library
- Staff - The Library is not just about books and Mr. Jones. It also houses our very own Advise TN College Advisor, Mrs. Kochanowski (Mrs. K) as well as one of the two Technology hubs in the building where Mr. Woody works with Technology.
- SHS Classroom Libraries - This list needs to be updated, but it includes a list of books in the classroom libraries of Miss Kyle, Mrs. Hill, Ms. Latham, & Miss McCosh!
- The Library not only has a collection of Fiction, Nonfiction, Reference, and Research books, as well as classroom sets and Graphic Novels, we also have Newspapers, Magazines, Yearbooks, SHS Band trophies, plaques, and memorabilia, Beta Club Awards, a section that displays Monroe County (especially Sweetwater, SHS, and High Point High), classroom space, research space, and space for clubs to meet. We also hope to soon add Comic Books that can be read in the library. There is so much more that we hope to offer students and staff, and as we add more things, we will share that with you!
